Good Fantasy Books

Just recently, I happened across a new fantasy series by Author Paul S. Kemp, about a new duo, in the same vein as Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser. The new protagonists names are Egil and Nix.

Egil is the Fafhrd side of the team. He is big, loud, strong and filled with sadness and remorse of the deaths of his wife and baby daughter. His weapons of choice are two massive warhammers to deal out punishment.

Nix comprises the Gray Mouser aspect of the duo. Small, fast, quick of tongue, and faster with a blade, he brings to the duo a broken childhood, raised in the slums. His sword is second to none.

The two books, so far, in the series are:
. The Hammer and the Blade
. A Discourse In Steel

The Council Beholder

The Council Beholder
. The port city of Pholl is a sprawling mega-city. The city is situated on the shores of the Redwahl Sea, and has expanded down the shore almost as far as the eye can see, and northward, penetrating far into the Karthqes Mountains.
Trouble has been brewing for years between the city council and the tree-dwelling race called 'Elves'. It seems the Elves have started pressing back as more and more citizens have ventured ever further away from the city in hopes of finding safer places to live, as the Pholl Thieves Guild has been extracting an ever-growing "safety tax" from the citizens. Much grumbling, and people moving away have been the only results.

The city is actually ran by some rather...colorful entities. Four, in fact. Beholders. Yes, dear reader, Beholder madness has infiltrated local politics, although, who is too say which brand of politics is less crazy?
