Chains of Klaedeus - Mythology. Chains bind the heavens and worlds together. When the gods are angry with man, they rattle the chains, with the result being thunder from the rattling, and lightning from the links rubbing on one another. The chains prevent the universe from flying apart. They can also be vibrated, causing earthquakes.
